How you can help

  • Whether you work in a GP practice, an NHS Trust or in the community, download the materials, print them off and display them wherever you think carers might see them.
  • If you meet someone who’s a carer, encourage them to have a flu jab. See below for just some of the reasons why they should get protected.
  • Use our press release template (15 KB) and include an article about carers in your newsletter.
  • Think ‘carer’ in your flu jab tweets. See here (38 KB) for some suggestions.

Why should carers have a flu jab?

As well as all the usual reasons for having a flu jab, if a carer gets the flu:-

  • the person they look after may be left without support and need to be admitted to hospital or residential care
  • they could pass it on to the person they care for – with serious consequences
